Course outline

Make a positive impact on human health and wellbeing, by learning to understand the evolving science of food, nutrition and dietetics. This is a hands-on program is specifically designed to give students the skills and expertise for industry application, promoting nutrition and health through informed dietary recommendations.

In this program you will learn how to make food for people with different dietary needs as you choose to specialise in a range of minors, including public health nutrition, health promotion, healthy public policy, sustainability, food science and safety, sport and exercise nutrition, agriculture and aquaculture, Indigenous studies, social media or journalism. You’ll gain provisional direct entry (subject to entry requirements) to the UniSC Master of Dietetics (Sports Nutrition) program. The Bachelor of Nutrition will be offered at Sunshine Coast campus and the Master of Dietetics (Sports Nutrition) at Moreton Bay. Students wanting to study the first degree at Moreton Bay should apply for QTAC code 013542.

Other requirements

This is a competitive provisional direct entry pathway to the Master of Dietetics (Sports Nutrition) at the Moreton Bay campus. Students must complete the Bachelor of Nutrition at UniSC within the minimum time specified with a cumulative GPA of at least 5.0 before progressing to the Master of Dietetics (Sports Nutrition).

Completion of Year 12 or attained age 17 years; No prior study

Additional entry requirements

This program is for current Year 12 applicants or applicants who completed Year 12 no more than three years prior to application and who have not previously attempted tertiary study at diploma level or higher.

Membership

Bachelor of Nutrition graduates may be eligible to become members of the Public Health Association of Australia; Nutrition Society of Australia; Australian Health Promotion Association; World Public Health Nutrition Association; Eligible for enrolment in the Accredited Nutritionist Program of the Dietitians Association of Australia (with appropriate experience/further qualifications).
Master of Dietetics (Sports Nutrition) graduates may be eligible to become members of the Accredited Practising Dietitian (APD) program; Sports Dietitians Australia; Professionals in Nutrition for Sport and Exercise (PINES).
